About NODC

The Kenya National Oceanographic Data Center (KeNODC) was created in 1999, after a resolution of a meeting of the National Oceanographic Committee under the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO. KMFRI was made the host Institution. To date the data center boasts a number of achievements including:-

  1. Management of the tide gauge data
  2. Oceanographic data exchange with international data centers under the IODE Network
  3. Adoption of oceanographic data management tools within the Ocean Teacher courses
  4. GIS services
  5. Implementation of data center website
  6. Networking with regional programs – offering useful insights for data management components
  7. Creation of a national marine and coastal bibliographic databases
  8. Regional node of ASF
